Except for the 'Silence of the Centuries' EP, that was released on CD, you will get no frequency spectrum and dynamic range higher quality from the demos and the 'Remasquerade' 7" vinyl, because those formats (cassette and vinyl) have less (or narrower) frequency spectrum and dynamic, range, than 320kbps mp3.
RispondiEliminaAnother thing is the high frequency sound artifacts that mp3 encoding produces, and in general the distortion that any downward transcoding compression introduces.
I think I have been somewhat confused here, since I have assumed that the demo and vinyl songs were taken from the cassettes and vinyl themselves and not from the tapes recorded in the studio. On the part of the first two demos, which seem to be made by the group itself, I think that in this case they were extracted from the cassettes due to the poor sound quality and because I also appreciate a job of cleaning up the background noise (tape hiss) that occurs when recording in this homemade way.
EliminaIn the other cases, I have not found information from where the songs were extracted, but it seems more logical that it was made from the tapes (DAT) recorded in the studio, so my statement about the loss of quality in the spectrum of frequencies and dynamic range would not affect these recordings in this case.
I mean, any lossy compression, not lossless.
