Another thing that happens when converting to a lossy format is what is called inter-sample clipping, that is when the analog signal reconverted from the digital samples clips in the analog domain.
RispondiEliminaIn the .rar file above there are two log files from the dynamic range meter(TT), one from the wav files (which I convert from the .mp3 downloaded, but take in mind that those .mp3 yet clip, almost for sure) and another from the .mp3 converted from those touchup wavs. You can see that the peak of the .wavs is -0.5dBFS whereas the converted .mp3s vary in their peaks but all have increased and if there is one that is zero, it is sure to clip. This is a demonstration of the inter-sample clipping.
